We asked you a few weeks ago to vote on your favorite U.S. military aircraft, and you chose the F-15EX. Good timing, too.
The modernized Eagle has landed at Portland Air National Guard Base. Pilots and crew, and plenty of interested onlookers, were there to get a glimpse of the first combat-ready F-15EX. But why were so many people interested?
“The F-15EX is a game-changer. It enhances our lethality and survivability while expanding our mission capabilities,” said Major Calvin “Knife” Conner.
The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing is the first operational unit to receive the EX, but it won’t be the last. With speeds of nearly Mach 2.5, a combat radius of 800 miles, and its ability to carry up to 30,000 pounds of air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions, the F-15EX will be integral for missions today and the fights of tomorrow.
